Sports radio personality goes "Mad" for G.I. GO

Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo, one of the stars of the number one daytime sports talk
show “Mike and the Mad Dog”, pledged his support for our troops and the G.I. GO
mission. At an event in Bridgewater, NJ, Russo told members of the G.I. GO Fund that
he applauded the work of the organization and wished them continued success in what
he called "an important cause".
“Continue to love all our soldiers guys,” Russo added. “Without all your support this
book doesn’t happen.”
Along with his support, the well-known radio personality autographed six copies of his new book The Ultimate
Rankings of the All Time Best in Sports for G.I. GO. The autographed books will be used to help raise funds
for transition assistance for PTSD support for our troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Russo is well known in the public sphere for his philanthropic work. He, along with his co-host Mike
Francesa, have raised money for countless charities in the tri-state area. However their most notable work is
their annual WFAN “Radiothons”, were they raise funds for the Imus Cattle Ranch for Kids, Tomorrows
Children's Fund and the CJ Foundation for S.I.D.S. Since 1990, the two have helped raise over $26 million
for these various organizations.
“We were very excited to hear of his support,” said G.I. GO Vice President Alexander Manis. “Mad Dog is a
strong public figure who is widely respected both by his colleagues and his listeners. His support for our
efforts is greatly appreciated by us and our troops."
While Manis praised his efforts further, he also noted that he wished for more support from others like Russo.
"Although we greatly appreciate his support, the fact is that our troops need more. There are millions of
soldiers who need the attention and support that only people in Russo's field can provide." said Manis.
Soldiers across the seas ensuring or safety can rest comfortably knowing that “Mad Dog” isn’t that mean after
all showing a little of his softer side to G.I. GO.
